Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.
Always read the label, use only as directed. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you notice any of the following and they worry you: nausea or vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, headache, wind, stomach pain, skin rash, itchy skin, dizziness or dry mouth. These side effects are usually mild. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. Some medicines may interfere with Nexium 24HR. Do not take Nexium 24HR if you are pregnant unless your doctor says so. Ask your doctor about the risks and benefits involved. It is not known if it is safe for you to take Nexium 24HR while you are pregnant. It may affect your baby. Do not take Nexium 24HR if you are breastfeeding. Ask your doctor for more information. It is not known if Nexium 24HR is excreted in breastmilk if you are breastfeeding.
GumballanyThis medicine is for the termination of breastfeeding. It does not contain any preservatives or any other substances that may cause you to develop diarrhea. If you are allergic to esomeprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (saucer or savory flavour) esomeprazole may cause your diarrhoea. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. If you become symptomatic, seek medical attention immediately. It is not known if esomeprazole is excreted in lactose-free diet. Esomeprazole may also affect the action of antibiotics (eg. erythromycin or clarithromycin).
PancreatitisThis medicine contains an active ingredient esomeprazole. If you are experiencing a severe or troublesome pancreatitis, talk to your doctor. Your doctor will decide if the symptoms of pancreatitis are serious or permanent. If pancreatitis symptoms occur more than 3 months after giving esomeprazole, your doctor will decide if esomeprazole is the appropriate treatment or should be continued.

Nexium 24HR is a capsule form of Nexium 24HR. Take it once a day with a meal, unless your doctor tells you to stop taking it as it can be taken with or without food.

If you are having trouble choosing the correct dose of NEXIUM (esomeprazole magnesium), you will have to wait some time to see the next dose. In most cases, a dose can be taken up to 14 days, or more. The dosage can be decreased to 7.5 mg per day, or decreased to 2.25 mg per day.
This medication is not suitable for use in patients with renal impairment, patients with heart failure, or those taking other medications that should be avoided in patients with hypoproteinaemia. What is Reflux?
Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“foodpipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Do I get instant relief from taking a Nexium tablet?
Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

It is important not to damage the pellets.
Alternative method of taking this medicine• Put the tablet in a glass of still (non-fizzy) water. Do not use any other liquids. • Stir until the tablet breaks up (the mixture will not be clear) then drink the mixture straight away or within 30 minutes. Always stir the mixture just before drinking it. • To make sure that you have drunk all of the medicine, rinse the glass very well with half a glass of water and drink it.
