1. Why am I using NEXIUM?

NEXIUM contains the active ingredient esomeprazole. NEXIUM is used to treat acid reflux disease, esophageal cancer and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid.

2. What should I know before I use NEXIUM?

Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction to NEXIUM or any of the ingredients listed at the end of the CMI.

Talk to your doctor if you have any other medical conditions, take any other medicines, or are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

4. How do I use NEXIUM?

  • The usual dose is one capsule once a day, preferably once a day.

Things you should do

  • Make sure that you take enough NEXIUM with your meal.

  • Do not take NEXIUM if you have heart disease or have had recent heart attack or stroke.
Driving or using machines
  • Be careful before you drive or use any machines or tools until you know how NEXIUM affects you.
Drinking alcohol
  • Tell your doctor if you drink alcohol.

  • NEXIUM is a medicine used to treat acid reflux disease and other conditions caused by excessive stomach acid.

6. Are there any side effects?

NEXIUM belongs to a group of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). PPIs block the effects of stomach acid in the body.

NEXIUM is used to treat certain conditions caused by excess stomach acid in adults and children over the age of 12. It is also used to treat gastric ulcers in children. NEXIUM is also used to treat other stomach ulcers that are caused by excess stomach acid.

Do not use NEXIUM if:

  • you are allergic to esomeprazole or any of the ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet. If you are allergic to esomeprazole or any of the other ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist before taking NEXIUM.
  • you have had an allergic reaction to NEXIUM or any of the other ingredients listed at the end of this leaflet.

Indications/Uses

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are medications used to treat heartburn and acid reflux.They work by reducing the amount of acid that is made in your stomach. This then tells the heart to health insurance co-ordinate the stomach acid. In people with heartburn they may be used. PPIs are usually taken once a day. (To make an ano-toxins) Take PPIs at least 1 hour before or around meals. PPIs will usually cause slowing heart rate, burning and indigestion. PPIs are usually taken with food. (To make an ano-toxin) Take PPIs once a day. (to make an ano-toxin) Take PPIs after food. (to make an ano-toxin) Take PPIs (esomeprazole) too late in the ano-toxin pattern. (to make an ano-toxin) If you have had a heartburn in the last 3 months you may take a PPI before or after food (to make an ano-toxin) If you have had a heartburn in the last 3 months take a PPI before or after food take PPI before bed. Do not drink PPI during the night.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Side Effects/SIDE EFFECTS:

Most PPI medicines have few side effects. Side effects may last for a few days to a couple of weeks. Side effects can be mild or serious. Serious side effects are rare. However, there may be side effects. These side effects may occur in less than 1 in 100 people.
